6.5. Options Tab

At this tab you can specify all other settings of the project.

6.5.1. Files Order

You can sort the listing by name, extension, size, time, and a number of other parameters. The sorting can be case sensitive or insensitive, ascending or descending. Ascending means that the items are output from 0 to 9 and from A to Z. Descending is a reverse to ascending. When ascending is specified, then folders come first. When descending is specified, then files come first.

Note, that sorting by name and extension is done in accordance with ASCII specification, this works for English, but may or may not work for other languages. Note, sorting may differ from how files are ordered in Windows shell (e.g. in Windows Explorer), which sometimes is not in accordance with ASCII standard.

6.5.2. Options

• Show folder items in listing. It is applied to for loops in tree mode, that is for recursive listings. If this box is unchecked, then folders will not appear in the listing. It also sets show_folders variable.
• Show file items in listing. It is applied to for loops in tree mode, that is for recursive listings. If this box is unchecked, then files will not appear in the listing. It also sets show_files variable.
• Disk space occupied instead of size. This will show how much space the file takes on the local computer. Note, when you upload listing to web server, this may be incorrect, as server may have a different cluster size.
• Recursive size for folders. If this box is checked, then size variable will show recursive size for folders. Recursive size is the size of all descendant files, that is, size of all children, grandchildren and so on.
• Suppress empty folders recursion. If a folder doesn't have any descendant file, then it is considered to be empty. If this box is checked, then such folders will not recurse, thus eliminating unneeded information from the listing, and sometimes helping to make correct XML/XHTML.
• Encode URLs with. There are three options to encode URLs. No encoding; HTML Escape - this is useful for making HTML pages, because URLs will be used as HTML attribute value, and therefore should be encoded; URL-encode - this is how ultimately URL is transferred to a web server by a web browser. If your file and folder names use only Latin letters, digits, underscore '_', dash '-' and period '.', then you may use "No encoding". HTML escaping method does the following: escapes the following four symbols used in HTML markup '<', '>', '"' and '&' with the named entities like "&lt;", escapes symbols greater than 127 with 6 byte XML style "&#[0-9]{3};" sequence. URL Encoding method does the following: Any symbol other than a-z, A-Z, 0-9, '_', '-' and '.' is converted to a 3 byte sequence of a form of "%[0-9A-F]{2}". This setting will affect all URL related variables, including relurl and absurl.
• File size units. You can select to display size of files either in bytes, KB or MB. "Dynamic" means automatic selection of the unit based on the file size. This affects size and sizeunit variables.
• File types. "Custom File Types" means the file types are resolved via "ext.txt", as described in File Types and Icons. This affects media variable.
• Process recursive subfolders in the end. If this box is unchecked, then if some folder is to recurse, then it will do immediately, like in "Tree" template. If the box is checked, then all subfolders to be recursed, will be recursed after all children of their parent are processed, like in "Recursive Folder Listing" template.
• Show summary. This will set show_summary variable. Depending on this variable some templates may show or hide the summary.

6.5.3. Date / Time Format

You may select either Windows format or custom format. This affects time, accessed, created, now, ImageDateTime, ImageEXIFDateTime and other time related variables.

With custom date format, you can use short or long dates or months, can omit or specify hours, minutes and seconds, etc. The program uses C run-time library function "strftime" to format dates.

Examples:

• to enable European style dates, use "%d-%m-%y %X"
• to enable long dates use "%#c"
• to omit time fraction use "%x"

"Example" button is supposed to evaluate format that you provide in Date Format box.

Format specifiers are:

In some cases inserting '#' between '%' and a letter means removing leading zeroes if they may occur.

Windows date format is set in Windows XP at Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Regional Options > Customize > Time & Date tabs.

6.5.4. Icons

The setting affects image_dir variable. When "Use local icons" is checked, then image_dir variable will return a local absolute URL for the folder which contains the icons. Otherwise the variable will return the value set in the "Path to icons on web server" box.
